Frequently Asked Questions
How much does editing cost?
Pricing is hard to discuss because so much of it depends on the length of the manuscript and the amount of editing it needs. We usually wait until we've read the first chapter to decide on a final price. That being said, usually our prices range from $1.50 - $5 per 1000 words for each editing stage.
How long does it take to edit a book?
Very similar to our pricing, the timeframe is hard to figure out because so much of it depends on the quality of the manuscript. However, we like to finish each editing stage 2 weeks after starting. So, if you go through a developmental edit, content edit, and a proofreading service, it will most likely take 6-8 weeks. Note: services like beta, sensitivity, and ARC readers will extend this timeframe.
What if I don't like/don't need your services anymore?
While we hope this never happens, we understand that life gets in the way sometimes. If it comes time that you may not like or may not need our editing services anymore, we will most likely finish up the editing stage that we are in (payment will still be asked for), and you will have rightful access to the final draft.
Do you do payment plans?
Sort of. Because our payments are split up between 3 different editing stages, we do not ask for the full payment at the beginning or end of our services. Usually, we will ask for payment at the end of each editing stage.
